Origin:
Native to the Caribbean Sea and Western Atlantic, often found in sandy or rubble areas near reefs.
Feeding:
Carnivorous – accepts mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, finely chopped seafood, and other meaty foods. Will also take high-quality frozen preparations.
Tank Mates:
Best with peaceful community fish. Avoid aggressive or overly active species that may outcompete them for food or disturb their burrows.
Aggression:
Peaceful, but may defend its burrow from other jawfish.
Experience Level:
Intermediate – requires a deep sand bed (3–5 inches) for burrow-building and a secure, covered tank to prevent jumping.

- pH: 8.1–8.4
- Salinity: 1.020–1.025
