Sebastapistes cyanostigma
Description
A small, heavily camouflaged scorpionfish mottled in red and cream with yellow spotting. Sits motionless among coral, almost invisible until it moves.
Feeding
Carnivorous ambush predator. Frozen prawn, silversides and chunks of marine fish on tongs, two or three times a week.
Compatibility
Will eat any fish or shrimp it can swallow. Reef safe with corals. Best with fish too large to be eaten.
Behaviour and personality
Sits motionless among rock and coral, perfectly camouflaged, then strikes at passing prey.
Before you buy
Venomous dorsal spines - handle with great care, and be aware of where the fish is before putting hands in the tank, as it is genuinely difficult to see.
