Halichoeres chrysus
Description
A brilliant canary-yellow wrasse marked with small black dorsal spots. Hardy, active and one of the best-behaved Halichoeres for a reef tank.
Feeding
Carnivorous. Frozen mysis, enriched brine shrimp and marine pellets. Hunts pests among the rockwork.
Compatibility
Reef safe with corals, but will eat ornamental shrimp, small snails and bristleworms. Useful against pest flatworms and pyramid snails. Peaceful toward fish.
Behaviour and personality
Constantly active across the rockwork all day, burying in the sand bed to sleep.
Before you buy
Needs a deep fine sand bed to sleep in - without one it becomes stressed and short-lived. A sealed lid is essential, as this genus jumps.
