Diproctacanthus xanthurus
Description
A slim wrasse striped in black and white with a bright yellow tail. Attractive, and a coral mucus specialist with a difficult feeding record.
Feeding
Feeds on coral mucus and polyps in the wild. Must be weaned onto frozen mysis and enriched brine shrimp, several times daily. Many specimens never adapt.
Compatibility
Not reef safe - it feeds on coral. Peaceful toward fish. Juveniles clean other fish; adults do not.
Behaviour and personality
Picks constantly at coral and rock surfaces. Shy on arrival.
Before you buy
A coral-feeding specialist, so unsuitable for a reef and hard to feed in a fish-only tank. Most specimens are lost within months.
DX courier delivery is £20 per livestock order.
