Duboisi Cichlid

The Duboisi Cichlid, also known as the White Spotted Cichlid or Tropheus duboisi, is a vibrant and fascinating species of African Cichlid. Native to Lake Tanganyika in East Africa, these fish are known for their striking coloration, featuring black, blue, white, and yellow hues. Juveniles are jet black with white spots, which fade as they mature, revealing a dark blue body with brilliant white dots.

Duboisi Cichlids are relatively small, growing up to 5 inches (about 12.7 cm) in length. They have a herbivorous diet, primarily feeding on vegetable matter, although they may occasionally consume small amounts of protein. These cichlids are known for their aggressive temperament, making them best suited for species-specific tanks or with other robust cichlids.

To thrive, Duboisi Cichlids require a spacious tank of at least 200-300 litres, with water temperatures ranging from 22-28°C and pH levels between 7.8-9.0. They also need efficient filtration and regular water changes to maintain high water quality.

Despite their challenging care requirements, Duboisi Cichlids are a rewarding addition to any aquarium due to their unique appearance and dynamic behaviour.
